Frontier Call Forwarding Instructions

This is a cheat sheet for Frontier customers looking to direct their incoming calls to an answering service. Let’s walk through the various ways you can set up call forwarding on your Frontier phone—whether it’s general call forwarding, no answer, or busy forwarding. With call forwarding, you will never miss an important call—and always help customers when they need it the most.

Unconditional Call Forwarding​

  1. Lift the receiver and dial *72 once you hear the dial tone.
  2. Once a second dial tone begins, input the 10-digit number provided to you by your answering service.
  3. Call forwarding will be activated once the phone is answered and you hear the confirmation tone.

Exceptions:

  • For Indiana (Citizens and Fairmount), Illinois, Pennsylvania, Alabama, and Wisconsin, dial 72#.
  • For Rhinelander, dial 72#.
  • For Frontier Voice customers in Connecticut, dial 72 followed by the forwarding number.

No Answer Call Forwarding​

  1. Lift the receiver and dial *92, then listen for a special dial tone.
  2. Enter the number of rings before forwarding.
  3. Enter your 10-digit forwarding number.
  4. Call forwarding will be activated once the phone is answered and you hear the confirmation tone.

Exceptions:

  • For Seneca Gorham, dial 52.
  • For Rochester, dial 44.

Busy Call Forwarding​

  1. Lift the receiver and dial *90, then press Talk.
  2. When the special dial tone begins, enter the 10-digit forwarding number.
  3. Enter the # symbol and hang up.

Exceptions:

  • For Seneca Gorham, dial 50.
  • For Rochester, dial 48.

Selective Call Forwarding​

  1. Lift the receiver and listen for the dial tone, then press *63.
  2. Follow the voice prompts to manage your forwarding list.
    • Press 3 to activate or deactivate the service.
    • Press #01# to add the last caller to your list.
    • Press 1 to hear numbers on your list.

Note: Always verify with your answering service about their call forwarding capabilities.

Turn Off Call Forwarding​

Unconditional Call Forwarding​

  1. Enter *73 on your phone.
  2. Press the Talk key.
  3. After the confirmation tone, call forwarding is turned off.

No Answer Call Forwarding​

  1. Enter *93 on your phone.
  2. Press the Talk key.
  3. After the confirmation tone, call forwarding is turned off.

Busy Call Forwarding​

  1. Enter *91 on your phone.
  2. Press the Talk key.
  3. After the confirmation tone, call forwarding is turned off.

Frontier Call Forwarding FAQs​

1. Does Call Forwarding Also Forward Text Messages?​

No, you cannot forward text messages from your Frontier phone to another number or answering service.

2. Are There Different Instructions to Forward Calls Depending on My Location?​

Yes, instructions may vary by location. Refer to the exceptions listed in each section.

3. What If I Need Custom Call Forwarding?​

Contact your Customer Success Manager and then call the Frontier helpline at 1 (800) 921-8102 to set up custom call forwarding.
